This commitment is evident in Enea Airport City’s more than 134 hectares (331 acres) of green space — almost twice the size of Santiago’s Parque O’Higgins, which spans 80 hectares (197 acres).

When compared to Parque Bicentenario in Vitacura, which covers 27 hectares (66.72 acres), Enea’s green areas are more than five times larger.

The plant life is diverse, including a wide variety of trees and shrubs spread across parks, medians, boulevards, plazas, and gardens throughout Eneas’s public spaces.

For example, there are algarrobo, pepper trees, liquidambar, poplars, olive trees, parkinsonia, asclepias, indigo salvias, coccinea and lavender, African agatea, cineraria martina, lantana, tulbaghia, and trailing bougainvillea, among others.

“Enea carries out ongoing comprehensive maintenance of the common areas, which includes conservation work, cleaning, and upkeep of infrastructure and shared spaces,” explains Danitza Zambra, Park Administrator at Enea.

The extensive list of services used to maintain the urban environment at its best includes cleaning, watering trees, parks, and gardens in common areas; managing grass on boulevards and roundabouts; pruning and care of trees and shrubs; ground cover management; maintenance of urban furniture and infrastructure; irrigation systems; water meters and cameras; upkeep of drains; and an emergency response crew.

Bernardo Küpfer, General Manager of Enea, emphasizes that Airport City has a special focus on caring for the environment, green spaces, landscaping, and sustainability as a whole. “Enea is the green lung of West Santiago, and its parks, plazas, and green areas are public spaces meant for the enjoyment and use of residents, workers, and the entire community,” says Küpfer.

He adds, “We want Enea to be a city with ample space for recreation, and for the development of sports, cultural, and entrepreneurial activities — in short, everything that contributes to a higher quality of life.”
